Halloween

When I first came to America I had always heard about the holiday called Halloween.I had heard stories about it back in my native country, but I had never seen what it was about. I have seen commercials on television about this holiday. I even saw advertisements about buying costumes for Halloween. I became very interested in what it was all about.

I did not understand why people were so excited. When I saw people wearing different kind of crazy masks and children dressed up like little animals, I thought to myself,”they are crazy”. But I became very interested in finding out about this. I was really scared too, at some of the costumes that I saw on the television. I even saw advertisement for a movie called Halloween and it was terrifying. I remember seeing pumpkins that were carved into different kind of faces too.

Halloween is a festival celebrated towards the end of October. It has its root in all hallows eve. It has been a custom that has been practiced in America for a very long time. I also asked other people that I know about this Halloween thing and they told me that kids dress up in costumes and go around asking for candy.
